About

About the library

The Working Library is a free collection of interactive courses in technology, the trades, and business. Every course is complete in itself — and every course is a single file.

What this is

Each course here is a full, structured course: sequenced lessons, hands-on labs, self-check quizzes, a clickable glossary of key terms, and a randomized practice exam. There are no accounts, no paywalls, and nothing to install. You open a course and start learning.

The library covers three shelves: IT & Tech (IT support, certification prep, networking), Trades (low-voltage systems, the electrician’s path), and Business (accounting and bookkeeping). More courses are added regularly.

One file, yours to keep

Every course is a single HTML file. Learn in your browser, or download the file and keep it: it opens in any modern browser and works offline, with no connection to this site. Your progress is saved in your browser as you study — it stays on your device, in that browser, and does not sync between devices or between the online and downloaded copies.

How the courses are made

Courses are written to be practical: plain language, real tasks, and tools built into the lessons themselves — subnet calculators, conduit-fill and voltage-drop calculators, pinout drills, journal-entry simulators. Lessons tell you what to do with your hands, not just what to read, and every claim about a course on this site — lesson counts, hours, question counts — describes the actual file you can open.

Who makes it

The Working Library is an independent project, built and maintained by a working IT professional. It is not affiliated with the certification bodies, standards organizations, or software companies the courses cover; names like CompTIA A+ appear only to describe what a course prepares you for.
